Fritz- Thanks, that's an amazing web page. I'm a retired combat engineer officer. We built a few Bailey bridges in the US and Germany. A big one was built (by others) on Route 547 out towards the A Shau Valley in Vietnam. It even had a center column, but it washed out during the next monsoon. Bailey's were replaced in the Army inventory by the Medium Girder Bridge, another British invention. Clever guys those Brits!
