Most of the time, I think Fritz parked his tiny travel trailer at the "Y" Campground, down behind Eddie Vigil's Chevron station at the highway "Y".
But I also remember it being parked early-on beside the square-hewn log house in the Chama railyard that the volunteers stayed in.
Fritz, being an electrical engineer and Swiss at that, was always testing things to see what their limits were. He lived very frugally, and at one time he gave me a tour of his tiny trailer, preaching to me about how little it really took to live. He showed me his tiny shower and proudly told me that his research proved that a person could take an adequate shower in as little as 2 gallons of water!
I think the last time I saw him he had over 300,000 miles on his perfectly-maintained 1966 Jeep Wagoneer. That was in 1995 when many of the former Scenic Railways management and employees gathered at the High Country Restaurant for a memorial of Earl Bell after his passing.
