One day in the late 1070's I happened to be in our office, which was near the UP Oregon main line, when I heard different sounding diesels approaching. It was the RB,B&B Circus pulled by a set of E8's, survivors in their own right. There were no helpers but I would bet some were cut in for the run over the Blue Mountains. I didn't count the cars but it was indeed long.
I saw the E8's again some years later, parked by the Broadway St. crossing in Baker City, OR. Then I looked the other way and there was the 3985. It was a real treat to see this lash-up leave town. Unfortunately I was again working and did not have a camera.
