Norm,

No larger than 55lb.

There was probably lighter rail on spurs, and lightly used trackage in yards, and possibly a few sidings, but I would say 50-55 lb rail would be a good answer on the mainline at the end of operations.

By mainline, I'm talking about Denver to Leadville, not the Clear Creek Branch. The Clear Creek Branch might have had lighter rail.

I second Fred's advice, code 83 if you want the look of light rail, although code 100 isn't going to look out of place for the mainline.

Don't take evidence from the Clear Creek Branch to be consistant with what you'd have found on the mainline. Apples and oranges.

For a blend of heavier and lighter rail, I'd use 100 and 83. But I'm a mainline kind of guy.
