If you consider every caboose and passenger car listed in this thread being built in date XXXX is irrelevant as each piece was so heavily modified that maybe 2 or 3 are remotely "historic" in a PRE-D&RG sense. The "Nomad" is a good example as the car is more 20th century than 19th century at this point. While people like to celebrate the fact it was once a Horton chair car, it currently has a closed vestibule on one end and has had several windows removed. No matter what anyone says the car represents the era of its last rebuilding to its current form. The "1878" nonsense is just fluff to stimulate foamers and sell more rubber tomahawks.
As someone mentioned above the 24' boxcar in Silverton is probably the most original piece of pre-D&RG equipment. I'd also count the other old bodies out there for the >30' equipment as being among the oldest surviving. This would include the 24' or 25' box that Grant H. found years ago and the carbody(s?) at Sargent. I'd also count the boiler of the 2-6-0 "Durango" now in the Chama engine house as well as the boiler at Tefts.
