It is possible that this is a gas "refrigeration" unit. The ones built now look a little different than this. By putting high pressure natural gas in these and letting the gas go thru a orifice, the spraying of the gas reduces the pressure and cools it and when done enough it will cause the heavy liquids to come out of a gas state and become liquid. This would be LP gas. It would be seperated and taken out of the system. Many gas producers had contracts for sale of natural gas that did not list the btu of the gas. By striping out the heavy liquids they had another product they could sell in adition to the natural gas. I can't swear that is what this item is but it could be and since it is on a narrow gauge flat car its a safe bet it was going to the Farmington branch and the gas processing units there.
