I cant really blame him, here in the southeast we don't the luxury of having most of our narrow gauge railroads and equipment preserved. The ET&WNC closed in 1940 to Boone, and the remaining narrow gauge shut down completely in 1950. So we are fortunate to have what we have. Granted 4 out of the 5 full size narrow gauge steamers in the area are from Alaska. So if he feels he needs to start early to promote the event all power to him! I hope a lot railfans and model railroaders get a chance to come and see what we have to offer here in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
