Railfair at Ardenwood Farm

the ardenwood Historic Farm is the home of the Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad resources. For the past ten years they have held their Railfoad Fair over the Labor day Weekend.

This is the place that usually uses a horse to pull their cars.

This year they had two visiting locomotives: the 1889 built Antalope & Western #1, an HK Porter 0-4-0 and the 1890 built Ann Marie another H K Porter both 36"narrow gauge. There was also the California Central coast On30 modular railroad club. Their layout had a balloon loop at one end and a turntable at the other And the had a variety of narrow gauge protype cars running including a GRAMPS oil tank car which I have never before seen on a model layout!

The big news at the Society is their car barn project which was started last January and stalled for permitting problems is finially off top dead center and they expect to re-start construction any day now. The building will allow them to shelter and display their collection of western narrow gauge freight cars. Many of them with Carter Brothers connections.
