I'm still looking for the Utah & Northern trackage. However, the May 21st 1883 edition of the Ogden Standard says that the U&N was surveying new track to the Union Depot.
Here's some more about the D&RG:
Finished the Frog
May 21, 1883
"To-day, the finishing touches- no slight touches of the sledge-hammer either- were put to the frog at the crossing of the D&RGRR and the broad-gauge Utah Central. It is an exceptionally fine frog. The work was put in under the direction of Mr. M. Gormon of the C.P. Yard. Long may the D&RGRR and U.C. 'leap' that 'frog'."
And in the Random References portion of the same edition:
"Warm. Splendid Weather. Look out for the baseball contest. A cottage wanted. See “W&O”…A heavy consignment of goods was expressed, this afternoon, over the D&RG, by David Kay. The D&RG and U.C. passenger trains, this forenoon, ran a spirited race with each other, going south."
Now that would be a sight to see- a narrow gauge D&RG train and a standard gauge Utah Central train in a race!
