I haven't really given much thought to trying to organize a group. I wouldn't want to be responsible for others on some of these hikes. You would also need to consider the physical abilities of the others. I tend to drive myself pretty hard since I get very little time in the area. Organizing it might also be a challenge. I do quite a bit of exploring in CO but I don't live there. Most of these hikes are last minute even though I have done quite a bit of research ahead of time. I'm sure that there are quite a few others out there exploring the same territory.
What you are looking for is a modern day Robert Ormes. He certainly inspired me with his "Tracking Ghost Railroads in Colorado". He had the advantage that less time had elapsed since abandonment. Today's advantage is being able to overlay RR maps on aerial photos and get accurate coordinates to an item of interest.
