Two freight trains meeting on the 2 foot gauge

SAR 2 foot gauge garrat 111 "Daisy" is bringing a train load of pulp logs downgrade to Port Shepstone,, Natal, and has stopped on the main to meet another NGG-16 garrat with an uphill freight. The driver of 111, Mr. R. Deacon, has gone forward to line the approaching train into the siding, while the fireman has lined the other switch.
Driver Deacon is heading forward to hand off to exchange track clearance tokens with the opposing driver
Meets were common on the busy Port Shepstone - Harding line in 1979, the schedule calling for 6 freights in each direction Monday through Saturday, and two on Sundays.
