I've been fortunate to ride 18 on SLRG and also fire it while working for GCR. She is right at the top of the locomotives that I've been on in my life. We used to sometimes cut out the diesel using the M/U box in Williams just to make her work harder while backing thru the wye. I cannot ever remember her slipping. Back then, she still had the Worthington FWP and I used that when I had the opportunity, but more often it was the non-lifting injector.
A truly great piece of machinery, Old Reliable she was called.
