That's 'cant', not can't...
I'm attempting a scratchbuild of a HOn3 model of D&RG #168 in brass. My question, however is about the prototype: In the 'Maxwell' drawing by Ken Pruitt posted here:

if you turn your computer on it's left side (or rotate the image), take note of the cant of the cylinder mount, and the cylinder itself in the erection drawing. It's about 3 degrees, pointing the butt-end of the cylinder toward the center driver. Got a couple of questions about it:
1. Why is this done? I can guess it's to minimize lateral stress on the main rod, but I'm just a software gomer....
2. Do all the T-12s have this feature?
3. If I model this where the side rod is pushing the main rod rather than the other way around on the real item, will the mechanism bind? Okay, that's a modeling question, sorry....
