I must thank Mark Yates for letting me copy his Train register. He found it in a book store over in Durango. It covers Late October, 1950 to Jan 17, 1951 - yep 2 weeks before the last San Juan. You can bet somebody else snagged that prize.
It is interesting to note that in order to ease dispatching, most freight trains were run at night or at a time where they would not get in the way of 215-216. I recall Jim Pearce making a commoent that they "ran alot of trains by the light of the Rio Grande Sun" - aka the moon.
