You don't need to be in Colorado. One Fourth Of July I bent the back bumper of my pickup on a stump I could not see because of the snow. This was on a ridge above the Sumpter Valley, and about 6500 feet lower than the road mentioned above. Another time, in August, heavy snow broke the windshield wipers on the truck I was driving from Sumpter to Baker City. (All in Oregon.)
