I don't think that rail has been changed out in decades. The Jamestown depot tracks were not part of the freight carrying trackage since the Angels Camp branch was abandoned in the 1930s. The mainline takes the "divergent route" at the switch near the water tank -- the track that the fire watch speeder was setting on.
