SN Track Update for 7-1-10

Work has progressed as far as the crew can go until switches are installed. So there will be a break while the layout is decided and all the parts are on hand. Pictures are here:

The town is gearing up for the 4th--the D&S has elected to turn its station grounds into a campground and have set up some fencing, port-a-johns, and have the street blocked off at the depot where fees to use the grounds are collected. As of this afternoon, there were several units parked on the grounds. The railroad owns 20 acres of ground that runs along the town city limits and is about 159 feet wide, and beyond that is BLM land leased to the town for park purposes. Several privately owned mining claims run into this strectch, so ownership is mixed. Last year this area was packed with campers and there was quite a problem with some of them with drinking and rowdy behavior on the 4th. The town is expecting anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 people to show up for the festivities.
