How about Twice per day trains from Chama for $25.00 each trip to Lobato.
Make the fare $40.00 for photographers and stage a couple of runbys each way. If you really want to get creative have another engine follow behind running tender first, so it faces WB for the return to Chama.
After all without doing something along the way, this train would be done in what 90 minutes!!!???
Runby locations could be (1) Yard/tank (2) Chama River Bridge/Jukes Tree. (3)Flats before the narrows(old site of Broads Spur), (4) Leaving the narrows-starting the 4% grade, and (5) Lobato Siding. This way the guys who don't pay for the photo runbys at least get to stretch their ride longer and increase their C&TS experience.
If Lobato is closed for a long period of time, and they are not willing to move a K36 on the east side, then some more creative planning needs to be considered temporarily at least.
Another idea is to back the train west from the depot to the end of track beyond the wye and start there just for fun. We did that on Craft and Scholl specials in 1992-93. This is territory the regular fans never get to ride over anyway.
Just some ramblings.
