Russ: Your point is WELL taken! It has been a topic of discussion a number of times on the train this past week.

Earlier in the week we had a crew ride with us from Chama to Antonito who were filming a documentary for eco tourism in the San Luis and Chama valleys. The leader of that group lives in the Sheep Creek subdivision which is along the Conejos River west of Antonito. He and I discussed the situation and he knows a company who could provide equipment to do a cleanup. He and I are going to try to followup and do something about the situation.

What is needed is some permanent solution that involves providing a convenient place for locals to dispose of all that stuff. In talking with the train crew there is awareness of the situation by both the Commission and the C&TSMC. What has made the situation worse is that the nearest dump (in Manassa) raised there rates.

I'll keep everyone posted on any progress that is made in remedying the situation.
