Chris,
As I posted before, and you did not read, the train would begin at Dalton in the morning after the passenger park and leave from Chama and only have a 15 minute ferry ride on the bus. Business as normal.
The engines would be serviced at Antonito every other day and run through to Dalton and terminate. A night crew would back the coaches up to Cresco, and park the cars, and run the lite engine to Cumbres to turn and service. They would then back to Cresco and hostler the engines all night and back the train to Dalton for morning departure and daily road crew.
The trucking of the engine or any coaches would only be from Chama 6.45 miles to Dalton where the main track was jacked up and used for unloading the engine and cars from Soni truck. Or an unloading ramp could be built on or next to the main and rails bolted to the main line rails. Only a walkway would be needed to transfer passengers from road to train.
Instead of a daily night hostler at Chama, job blanked, a night train crew would work the engine turning and cleaning at Cumbres and Cresco.
This has all been done before on other railroads, where have you been?
