Here are some jobs not in special order:
Carry ties with three partners to track
Help space ties
Measure & chalk distance from end of tie to gage to dress track
Bring tie plates to tie
Jack rail and set tie plate under rail
Drill spike holes in ties
Distribute spikes to each tie
Set spikes for air gun
Nip the ties while they are being spiked
Drive spikes with air gun
Keep rail in gage before drilling holes
Bring joint bars to rail joint
Bring bolts, washer and nuts to joint
Put joint bar on rail and install bolts, nuts
Tighten nuts on joint bar bolts
Lift low joints and tamp to level low spots
Help tamp sides of drain pipe installed by machine
Help dress the dirt around drain pipes.
Sort plates and reject bent ones to scrap pile
Survey the track line location and drive stakes
After track built, run profile with level rod
Rodman on above profile
Instrument man on the above profile
Determine wanted elevation and drive stakes for top of rail
Above function for same survey crew
Dump stone on track with loader
Jack up track and shovel stone under ties to meet the stakes
Tamp stone with forks under ties to hold track
Dress ballast on edge of track.
Have good work clothes with leather safety shoes and definite heal
Have safety hat and goggles
Have good gloves
Have work briefing with entire crew
Comply with all the Foreman requests and instructions.
Have your own water or legal liquid, no u no!
