I'm on the road an unable to access any of my ng reading material, but I seem to recall that the D&RG actually had a third bridge planned which was never built, using the same design as Lobato and Cascade. At least one or two spans ended up on Marshall Pass as I remember.
I think I remember seeing one the last time I was up there many years ago, or perhaps I just remember where the span once was.
Anyone know more than I? If *part* of Lobato needed to be replaced, perhaps the "part" is quietly waiting on Marshall Pass for another train to pass...
