Yes, Earl, and on some Railroads, like the one where I work, some are prone to knee-jerk overreaction.
A MOW employee recently sat on a pocket knife that a fellow employee placed on a truck seat after coring an apple. The MOW employee filed an FELA claim. So in typical Omaha Fashion, any and all knives are now outlawed to be carried by the rank and file railroad employee.
There have been cases where managers were called out of bed, had to travel many miles just to cut off a flapping tarp or errant piece of plastic.
Needless to say, any type of weapon for self defense is not only outlawed; but even worse, they are politically incorrect. I core my apples with a folding metal sharp stick...
We have real genius's working in the rules department... Lawyers with no sense of reality.
