Mr. Creasing,

Regardless that the engine did have new piston rods made, metallic packing is a very difficult and finicky way of sealing around a moving rod. Former Loop engine #40 had leaky piston rod packing during the 2002 season, and I know for a fact that there are a number of the K-36's on the D&S as well as C&TS that have a similar (MINOR PROBLEM) of leaking packing.
