Hi Ross,
No track in Dolores is a long story!
Short version – lack of local political support, lack of local citizen support, the big commitment (by volunteers) it takes to keep Goose No. 5 in a safe and reliable mechanical condition just to operate only about 20 days per year on other railroads – oh, and the tons of money it would take to build and tons of money to subsidize a local operation.
However, that’s not to say it’s a dead issue, just sort of taken off the back burner and put in the refrigerator.
