With the exception of the siding and the roof, almost all of the wood is original. All of the wall & roof structure, most of the frame, the floor and most of the interior wood siding is original. I really did not replace anything unless I absolutley had to.
Replaced wooden parts include;
- siding (with the exception of the little bits below the doors)
- "B" end end sill and abot 6' of the right side sill
- All of the roof except the carlines (roof ribs)
- Siding on the doors, the wood behind the siding (inside of the doors) is original.
- Roof walk and roof walk supports.
- One needle beam will be replaced, the other is repairable.
Trucks and most other metal parts are D&RGW items. The car was kept mostly off the ground and its structure was in pretty good shape.It retains the original St. Charles Car Co. markings inside (C&S Ry Co. 8027 in black) as well as on the intermediate sills under the car. Also present are the C&S marks inside the car (C&S 8027 in white). All in all its pretty amazing that the car is still around considering it was retired and scrapped in 1937!
