... until one week ago today.

On Monday evening, June 14, I returned to Santa Paula - bringing "Petunia"* along to see our old friend Jim Clark.

He was busy supervising the loading of #18 onto a large truck. A VERY LARGE truck:

After saying 'Hello' to Jim, we just stood back and watched the tedious and meticulous operation:

Jim made sure everything was securely fastened down before this 100-ton load was raised off the ground:

Later that evening the truck pulled out, headed to Carson City by a very round-about route that avoided both steep grades and towns as much as possible; Jim followed after the next day.

* "Petunia" is what Jim called Cindy back in the Olden Days of fifteen years ago and more, when he and Stan Garner ran the Fillmore & Western, and Dave Wilkinson and I were volunteers on the track crew.   (See [ngdiscussion.net].)
