Unless something happens in the meantime, you should see at least two - and possibly three -
of the four currently active K-36 locomotives: #484, #487, #488 and 'The Painted Lady', #489.
Hopefully #489 will be a lot cleaner than she was last time a photo of her was posted (hint, hint).
As that is a busy time of year, there is a good possibility of a double-header from Chama to
Cumbres on at least one of the days you'll be there.
I would STRONGLY suggest making reservations at THE (Shamrock) HOTEL, Barbara & Roger Hogan's place in Chama, 1-800-982-8679. Roger is extremely familiar with the railroad, and - if not out hunting for pictures of wildlife - can show you some great places to get photos of the train.
Probably best not to mention my name to Roger or Barbara, however ...
