Gorgeous weather here in southern Ontario, and am out abandoned line exploring. This is the third journal box cover I've found since October - I didn't realize so many fell off cars over the years.
Anyway, this is a style different to most so I wonder if anyone would have a rough date for it.
Found along the former Toronto, Grey & Bruce narrow gauge line, converted to standard gauge 1881 and run by Canadian Pacific until abandoned in 1933. No railroad initials, but appears to have pattern number F.1134. It's not that big compared to the standard gauge CPR lid I found a week ago, but larger than the TG&B narrow gauge lid I posted earlier. Measures just 12” x 5 1/2"
Any help appreciated, as someone may have seen this style on cars in their museums etc.
Cheers,
Ralph
