I suspected that so therefore the Cheat River line to Big Cut or Spruce is part of the national general system of railroads presently. Since the Cass engines are under FRA, it makes little difference other than operating rules.
That removes one of the largest lengths of private railroads lines in the US and maybe the title of the longest private line in US now goes back to Erie Mining Co. up in MN. Simpson Lumber Co. in Washington has been cut back to a terminal operation. The longest narrow gauge private railroad is US Potash at Plaster City, CA. It is also not under the FRA account of being insular.
