The image below is the spur at Biggs that was being discussed a while back after a Jimmy Blouch posting for Dec 19, 1944. This was the site of a lengthy sawby operation. Someone back channeled me and wanted to see an overlay of this just to add some context. My first observation after doing the overlay is that the angle of the spur doesn't appear to be correct on the map. You can see on the aerial that it would have taken off the main at more of an angle and ended up where it says "Statute of". The connection point to the main does look correct.
Not a very good location to meet with two long trains! I guess that no one would make that mistake again after 1955 with the retirement of the spur.

Another interesting item is on the right side of the map. A notation of an abandoned grade. You can see the grade taking off to the right of the main and heading up towards the highway. Anyone know when it was abandoned?
