Classic geometry problem

After reading your comment about using the height of the engine in Russo's pic to estimate the height, I went back and looked at my picture. The width between the rails on the track beside the tower is 4 feet 8.5 inches (plus or minus probably no more than a 1/2 an inch. Based on that you can probably get some good estimates of the various dimentions on the tower. Of course to do it right you need to adjust for the geometric distortion, since the top of the tower is a bit farther away than the track and the bottom of the tower. That could be an interesting geometry lesson except I think there may be too many unknown variables for a precise answer. I did not realize the tower was recycled from a tank car until I read this thread, and looked at Earl's pix.
