With the gap in on-location C&TS work session, the Friends Colorado Springs group can get started on the final lap of the Tourist Sleeper #470.
Yesterday, we started assembling the seats. Since there probably isn't anybody alive that can remember exactly how they worked, we are having to do some engineering on the fly. The seats fold down, creating the lower bunk. We will have to figure out exactly where the upper bunks mount on the wall. We are aided by a photo on page 258 of Rio Grande Narrow Gauge Varnish, by Herbert Danneman, but of course, that doesn't give the exact information on how they actually worked.
