Visiting the C&T

I am coming over to your side of the pond in July. Many thanks to those of you who kindly gave information on where to stay in Chama. I am hoping to ride the C&T on either the 7th or 8th July and as I only have two days in the area, I thought we could ride the train from Chama to Antonio on one day and then spend the other day taking photos(before my wife gets bored with the whole thing. She just does not understand trains! ( She also does not know that I am taking over more space in the roof for my HOn3 layout!).
1) Is riding the train all the way from Chama to Antonio the best thing to do or should we to Chama and back one day and then Antonio andd back the next?
2) Any tips on good places to take track side photos?
