I realize that there were standard gauge bolsters under these cars, but when I see one converted to a flatcar, the extra decking over the trucks is removed. I'm still a little unclear as to why this extra decking was needed. Here is a website with more HS GOn info. Some gons have the extra floorboards, and some do not.
