That is correct, the sheet would be flanged and riveted with the flange facing the front of the locomotive. We will install this with a full penetration corner weld, after which we will install a ring in front of the sheet at the same location as the original flange. This piece will be fillet welded to the sheet and the shell and will serve to cover the old rivet holes and protect the shell from wasting (the old shell was rusted through at this point on the bottom).
