On Friday we decided to take a last minute trip up to Prescott. Today we drove the United Verde grade from Chino Valley to Jerome. This first shot is the San Francisco peaks framed by one of the cuts towards the Jerome end of the line. It was a nice day out but a little windy. Too much fresh air for me, my allergies were in full gear.
The find of the day was this splice bar that was laying right in plain site in the middle of the road. The line has been gone about 90 years now and this bar makes it to the surface.
I've been mapping out all the stone culverts along the line based upon the valuation maps. I think that we found the majority of them today. Some nice stone work and it is good to see that most of them are still there. A couple of them were missing and I found one that had been blocked on one end for a stock tank. The girls had fun going through the taller ones.
