C-16 design question, revisting an old thread

Too bad the pictures the original poster showed are no longer active, but I understand the differences.

My question is, I'm a little unclear on the final answer. Does the 278 have the arrangement shown in fig #5 on page 309 of this link?:

Or is it as it appears in the Maxwell and Pruitt drawings? Or did it start out life with one then was changed to the other?

The drawings from the Colo RR Museum show it to be like the Maxwell drawing, one large equalizer bar. Detail photos I have of the 268 seem to show it with the one big bar. I have looked at all the pics I can find in books and magazines but as it was pointed out in the original thread it is very hard to see in photos.

Any insight on this would be most helpful!
