Some shots of SMC1's last run for the season on the Pichi Richi Railway in South Australia.
This little beauty was built in 1906, retired in 1936 and put on display at Alice Springs till 1976 when it was rescued by the Society for restoration.
It entered service as SMC1 with the South Australian Railways (it had a sister, SMC2, sadly not with us anymore), it became NJAB1 under Commonwealth Railways in 1927 but has always been referred to as the "Coffee Pot"
Restoration was completed in 1986, I had done a lot of timber work in the restoration but moved on from the society before it was completed, this was the first time I had seen it run in 30 years.

Crossing Woolshed Flat bridge.
Beautiful colours, I love this location, I need to dig some dirt out so the running gear can be exposed.
The crew, of note is the guard Bronwyn, she became involved with the Society as a child with her parents, now she takes her own children up there, that is her husband in the centre who she met thru Pichi Richi, isn't love grand.
