It looks like 13 men in the engine service were working on Cumbres Pass that day: Tim Coughlin plus fireman, Jim Stephens plus fireman, E.A. Tozer plus fireman, Henry plus fireman (maybe two fireman. How many were there on the rotary?) Dan Holly and L.J. Oberrich plus fireman.
It looks like there could have been as many a 12, conductors trainmen and brakeman, depending on how many were on the passenger trains (one trainman per train vs. two.)
That doesn't even include the officials/
