Time for another update on Uintah 50. (For those that don't fallow my instagram) We have finished all the brake rigging and plumbing. The majority of this had previously been done, however we had yet to permanently route the air hose piping, and connect the hand brakes. This is now done and it is nice to be able to set her hand brakes finally.
At the rear of the car we took our time fabricating, fitting, adjusting, and re-fitting all the pieces that makeup the platform. We spent the most time on the end railing, making sure it looked right and fit well. Then we had it powder coated. All that is left now is to make the lift bar and install a new air hose.
At the front end the end beam, baggage doors and front door have received their final coats of paint. We have also painted all the handrails, steps, and baggage door sills black. This really makes the car look good.
Inside the car we have finished painting the baggage interior as well as the toilet room. Once this was done it was time to finish the floor. After sanding we applied 3 coats of polyurethane. With the baggage floor done, this past weekend we moved everything out of the passenger side into the baggage end and started on the floor. So far we have only have the first coat of poly on but it looks amazing. Once the floor is finished we will begin assembling seats and the remaining wall paneling.
Speaking of seats. We have the first few cushions assembled and before we cleared out the passenger room we mocked up a seat with the originals side.
More pictures to come.
