Good catch, Gavin. The photo was taken in 1966. It was too early in the morning when I typed. The broad and narrow gauge tracks were all gone by 1970 or thereabouts.
And Phil, the straight track is used by all three gauges, but the diverging track appears to be used only by standard and narrow gauges, as there are only three rails going that way.
This is fascinating trackwork, but in no way compares to the photo that started this thread. That track must have been a nightmare to maintain! The Gladstone track is pretty straightforward by comparison.
