I met John Norwood only once, at the Narrow Guage Convention in Colorado Springs. His slide presentation was well-attended and side conversations in the audience were everywhere.
However, when John advanced to a slide of the mermaid of Lake Shalano, sans clothes, on the Silverton run, the room turned dead quiet.
John just stood there, letting everyone squirm for what seemed like minutes, and then proceeded on to the next slide.
John's book, Rio Grande Narrow Guage Recollections, shows his sharp sense of humor. Thanks for reminding me.
