Just a couple of comments regarding the number plate... first of all I believe that this is the original Schenectady number plate, because old F&CC photos show this style of plate on their 4-6-0's, and the 20 was the only locomotive to retain it's F&CC number when it was sold to the RGS. Secondly, I believe that all three color combinations are correct... just for different time periods (In the shot of the RGS 20 on the turntable in 1947, the number plate was black with white lettering, and I think it may have been done so for the Rocky Club excursion). Speaking of Wayne's picture, I see that the 20 had a single chime whistle in 1947 (what does she have today?) but earlier photos of her in the late 30's and early 40's show a 5 (or 6) chime whistle. Maybe it was broken off during the derailment in 1942 or 43 which resulted in the retirement of the 40 and the big dent in 20's boiler.
And does anyone know what these are going to go for?
