There is are hourly regular passenger trains each direction. The tourist rotary runs have to fit in between. There are several photo stops along the way each one taking about 10 to 15 min. It takes some time to unload 50 photographers, have them wade in knee deep snow, do the photo run and get them back into the train again. In order to catch up we run up to 20 miles per hour to get to the next station.
In regular service that is done with a more modern rotary, they run at a slower speed.
