Gee, I even got the Belisle's names right - guess my mind isn't fading as fast as I thought.
It's a shame the road couldn't have been routed several yards to the east so that the depot
could have been saved. But histöric preservation wasn't as big a deal in 1964 as it is today.
The first time I drove through there, the road had been widened, graded and topped with gravel,
but - IIRC - not yet paved. Work had just begun south of Matterhorn and over the pass, and the
road was one long mud-hole that almost did me in. It's a beautiful drive today, but cost us a
LOT of irreplaceable relics.
