I find it quite interesting that these 1950s narrow gauge trains hauled lumber and other materials that were bound far outside the region. I suspect that the region now imports much of what is uses, like New England. New England once produced many manfactured products, but all was lost, first to cheaper southern labor, then to the slave-labor markets of the third world. Today, paper is about the only outbound product, and that industry is facing tough times.
What do you suppose that "company oil for Burnham" was for? Bunker C for shop boilers perhaps?
