I spoke with Steve Jackson and no, we will not be removing the spark arresters from the 473 for Sunday's trip. The D&RG started using them in the 20s and can be considered historical. It's not the answer you wanted, but it's real.

We've got snow-covered ties on flat cars that are so purty just sitting in the yard...they'll look even better on the consist in the wilderness! We got fresh snow overnight and I'm hoping for a great day Sunday!
