Good points and good ideas!
Though if all the parts are made and machined for a static reconstruction of the #3, there wouldn't be much more work in getting her to run.
And with two running engines then there would also be a need for rebuilding the track from Grass Valley to the Bear River...

*EDIT* And I do say that second paragraph jokingly, knowing full well that it's impossible to re-lay track in California. Once it's gone, it's gone. @#$%& is part of the culture here and is supported by the legal system. The best chance of anything getting relaid would be the old SPNG from Laws to Independence (with couple of realignments), and there's not enough tourist dollars out there to justify it.
