Since Doug opened the airbrake floodgates regarding car airbrake test devices, I figured I should fan the flames with my annual plea for K-1 triple valves.
The historic fleet of freight cars on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad that make those fantastic charters possible gotta have brakes that work!
Triple valves are in especially short supply (I don't think I have ANY in backstock right now).
Yeah, there are a lot of unused cars, but we are loath to pull valves from those because if the car DOES get restored, we have to find yet another triple valve.
A working valve is strongly preferred, but I would not turn down a dysfunctional body that could go on a static display car and allow me to steal a working triple.
I personally have no interest in A-B valves, the RR takes VERY good care of those on the passenger fleet.
I *might* be tempted by a K-2 as I *think* a couple of the MOW cars have equipment that operates with a 10" reservoir and might desire a K-2.
As always with my posts, feel free to chime in with advice even if ya ain't got a triple valve looking for a new home.
Cheers from Dallas!
